Looking to keep up with the latest bedroom furniture trends?
Maybe you’re designing a brand-new master bedroom, or perhaps your current bedroom is starting to appear outdated and needs to be rejuvenated.
In any case, here are some of the top colours, textures, and styles that are trending for bedroom furniture this year!
Green
Green has been trending in kitchens for a few years now, and in 2023, the colour is finally making its way into bedrooms. One of the easiest ways to incorporate green into a bedroom design is with plant life. However, adding emerald drawers, bedframes, and other bedroom furniture can be just as effective.
Colour Drenching
On a similar note, the concept of colour drenching continues to be on the rise in 2023. Deep shades of greens, reds, blacks, and others are being used throughout beds, furniture, walls, décor, and more.
2. Make Use of Storage Containers
Chances are that there are all types of items scattered throughout your home that you don’t use on a regular basis.
Start packing some of these items into large, plastic storage containers. These containers can easily be labelled, stacked in a closets or underneath a bed, and accessed as needed.
3. Purchase Multifunctional Furniture
Furniture tends to take up the most real estate in a condo. Avoid the pitfall of having too many pieces of furniture by buying multifunctional furniture instead.
There are coffee tables that double as ottomans and dining tables that double as office desks, for example. This will allow you to enjoy all of the normal functions of your furniture while using a fraction of the space.
Natural Textures
More natural elements will make their way into bedrooms in 2023. Think woven lampshades, wooden chairs, and stone features. Of course, these natural textures will elevate your bedroom design, but more importantly, they are also more sustainable. Improve your bedroom and the environment at once!
Vintage Textures
In 2023, there is now space for all of your favourite family heirlooms, trinkets, and vintage items in the bedroom. Think wooden armchairs, slightly distressed drawers, and rustic antiques.
Curved Furniture
Today, straight edges are being replaced by wavy headboards, rounded chairs, and other curvy bedroom furniture. These curves can make a bedroom feel softer, cozier, and less clinical.
Maximalism
Minimalism has been one of the more popular buzzwords in interior design for several years. In 2023, however, many designers are taking the opposite approach—adorning spaces with all of the bells and whistles that a bedroom might need. These include murals, statement lights, and all types of accessories.
More Layers
This year, you can finally ignore the old adage, “Less is more.” Designers are using additional layers to help create a sense of dimension in bedrooms. Whether it’s via a few extra decorative pillows or several mismatched throws, enjoy a little extra liberty with your textures!
More Drapes
This year, designers are using drapes for several applications in the bedroom. Of course, they can be used to cover up windows in the evenings, but they can just as easily be used to bring a sense of depth and dimension to an otherwise bland wall. They can even be used to conceal a bathroom entry or corridor.
Carpet
Hardwood floors have been a bedroom mainstay for decades, but this year, more and more homeowners are opting for the comfort of carpeting when they roll out of bed in the morning. Once an interior decorating faux pas, laying a large rug down on a plush carpet is a trendy choice in 2023.

Your kitchen island called. It’s tired of boring bar stools. 👀
Come give it the upgrade it deserves at Direct Interiors.
Woven texture. Graphic black stripes. Dark wood. A little touch of brass. ✨ These stools prove that the pieces around the kitchen can bring just as much personality as what’s happening inside it.
Because when the kitchen is where everyone ends up anyway… give them a really good reason to pull up a seat.

Today, we pause to listen, learn and reflect. 🧡
On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families and Indigenous communities across Canada.
May today be a reminder that reconciliation requires more than remembrance. It calls for continued learning, meaningful reflection and action.

This chandelier looks less like it was designed… and more like it grew there. 🌿✨

The view should be dramatic. The sunlight doesn’t have to be. ☀️
In a room with soaring windows, the right window coverings become part of the architecture—softening harsh light, managing privacy and glare, while still letting that incredible scale make its statement.
Control the light. Keep the view. Elevate the room. ✨

This is why walnut never really goes out of style. 🤎
The natural grain brings movement and warmth, while the clean lines keep the piece distinctly modern. No unnecessary detail. The material does the work.

Designer note: when the material already has this much personality, stop decorating over it. 🤍
The Cowell Coffee Table by SUNPAN pairs cool white marble with handcrafted antique-brass iron legs—a contrast that experienced designers love because it gives you both visual weight and breathing room. And because the marble is natural, every table brings its own veining and variation.
Our approach? Let the marble be the moment. Keep the styling intentional, give the surface room to breathe, and build the rest of the space around its warmth and movement.
Sometimes the best styling decision is knowing when to stop. ✨

A room this large doesn’t need more furniture. It needs the right proportions.
The expansive sectional grounds the open layout, while the oversized coffee table, dramatic lighting, and floor-to-ceiling walnut create enough visual weight to match the architecture. Nothing feels lost. Nothing fights for attention.
That’s the difference between filling a large room and actually designing one.
