Looking for the perfect flooring option for your home or space?
If you don’t want to go with wood, laminate, or a similar type of flooring, carpet tiles, rugs, and broadloom carpets are three of the most popular remaining options.
From a practical standpoint, each of these options will provide additional warmth underfoot; but from a design standpoint, they also have the potential to transform your space.
While it would be difficult to say that one of these options is objectively better than the others, there are clear pros and cons to consider with each. Let’s take a closer look at each style, so that you can make the best choice!
1. Carpet Tiles
To start, carpet tiles are extremely versatile, as you can choose from a variety of shapes, sizes, patterns, and colours.
Square tiles are most common due to the wide range of design options that are available. You can opt for basic, gray or brown square tiles if you want your carpet to blend in with the environment; but you can just as easily pair square tiles with a colourful pattern or arrangement that will cause them to stand out.
Beyond square tiles, there are other carpet tile shapes—such as hexagon tiles and rectangle planks—that can help modernize a space and give it a more custom feel.
2. Rugs
If you have wood, laminate, or another type of finished flooring that you like and would prefer to be exposed to, adding a few rugs is a great way to compromise. A rug not only provides additional insulation and soundproofing but also traps dust and particles from the air.
While a rug is often used in tandem with hard flooring, you can also pair one with carpet tiles or broadloom carpeting in spaces that could use a different texture or pattern.
Perhaps the greatest benefit of a rug is its moveability. As there is no installation required for a rug, anyone can purchase or set up a new rug at any time. Simply place it where you want and rearrange it later as you see fit.
3. Broadloom Carpeting
While broadloom is technically a type of carpet, it differs from carpet tiles in that it typically comes in large rolls that span from wall to wall. In many cases, it is also much plusher than most types of carpet tiles.
What’s more, if you don’t like the seams that can often be seen in many carpet tile arrangements, broadloom carpeting largely eliminates this issue.
With that said, the installation for broadloom carpets is not as straightforward as that of other options. You will most likely need to hire carpet services in Brampton to have your broadloom carpets installed.
While carpet tiles can be laid directly onto substrate and rugs can be laid directly onto flooring, broadloom carpets typically require a carpet pad that is laid on top of the substrate.
